RE:  Evaluation and Appraisal Report (EAR) Workshop

On behalf of the Department of Community Affairs and the Central Florida Regional Planning Council, it is my pleasure to invite you to attend a workshop on October 10, 2006 to discuss the new process your community will use to prepare the Evaluation and Appraisal Report (EAR).  The workshop will help you prepare for your evaluation the progress your community has made achieving community planning objectives through implementation of your comprehensive plan.  The EAR will also recommend revisions to the plan that may be needed to better address current community needs.  The EAR workshop will describe requirements for preparing and adopting an EAR, and will emphasize the differences between the new EAR approach and the procedures you have used in the past.  The workshop will also include special sessions on affordable housing, the Rural Lands Stewardship Area Program, and water and growth management issues, plus a roundtable discussion of major community planning issues that may be appropriate for the focus of your EAR.  The agenda for the workshop is attached.

The Florida Chapter of the APA has approved this workshop for 3.8 AICP/APA CPD credits. The workshop location is in the Department of Agriculture Building, 500 3rd St. NW, Winter Haven, Florida, 33822, from 9:30 AM to 3:05 PM, October 10, 2006.  A box lunch may be purchased on site for $10.00.  Please pre-register for the workshop by contacting Helen Sears at the Central Florida Regional Planning Council, (863) 534-7130 X124, hsears@cfrpc.org. If you have any questions about EARs, please contact Walker Banning at the Florida Department of Community Affairs (850) 922-1785 walker.banning@dca.state.fl.us.

                                                                        Sincerely,
