The Central Florida Regional Planning Council seeks a multi-disciplinary Urban and Regional Planner for a full-time position to support planning for local jurisdictions and government agencies in the Central Florida Region. CFRPC seeks a motivated planner to work with a creative team of highly skilled planners and program managers involved in diverse projects. including short-term and long-term school planning, multi-modal transportation planning, and assisting local governments on special planning projects. This position is responsible for conducting demographic and economic analyses, school enrollment projections, and transit planning. This position also conducts and participates in public outreach efforts. This position works independently as well as with a team of planners to accomplish these efforts. Attendance and presentations at night hearings and meetings are required. This position reports directly to the Deputy Director.
Qualifications: A minimum of two years of experience in urban planning and a Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, geography, public administration, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree in urban planning, geography, public administration, or a related field may be applied in lieu of the minimum experience.
The ideal candidate will have experience and a strong background in statistical methodology, survey research, demographic data analysis and GIS. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills both orally and written, with the ability to communicate complex/abstract concepts effectively in oral and written format. He/she will possess the ability to work independently, set priorities, and complete projects within specified timeframes. He/she will have a high attention to detail and accuracy in addition to outstanding analytical and project management skills to meet tight deadlines. The ideal candidate will have the ability to apply statistical findings to data resources in order to identify trends and relationships.
Applicants must have thorough research skills, possess a sufficient knowledge and proficiency of demographic projection methods and application, SPSS, SAS, ArcGIS, spatial data and/or other programs for data and statistical analysis; the statistical theories, concepts, analytical methodologies for the collection, classification, and evaluation of quantitative data, computer operations, systems, and procedures. Skills in using Microsoft Office software and ArcGIS are required. Familiarity with transportation and land use modeling a plus. Must have valid driver’s license and be able to secure valid Florida driver’s license at time of employment.
