Small
Quantity Generator Program

Purpose
The purposes of the Small
Quantity Generator (SQG) assessment, notification, and verification program are to
identify, notify, and verify potential and known generators that generate less than 2,200
pounds (1,000 kilograms) of hazardous waste in a calendar month.
Goals
The goals of the Small Quantity
Generator (SQG) assessment, notification, and verification program are to inform
SQGs of their legal responsibilities in properly managing their hazardous wastes,
protect public health and the environment and to update the original information submitted
to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) in each countys
hazardous waste assessment as required in 403.7225, F.S. A county may have additional uses
for this program. Knowledge of hazardous materials and wastes stored at a business
location can be useful for county departments with responsibility for comprehensive
planning, emergency management, fire and police protection, health care, and water quality
management.
