Resthaven Assisted Living Facility
Tucked away in a remote area of Hardee County, Florida sits a 12,000-square-foot wood frame and brick building that holds many memories for local long-time residents. Built in 1920, the facility was originally operated as the Lemon Grove Schoolhouse before it was converted into the assisted living facility known as Resthaven that operated for decades. Resthaven provided around-the-clock care for as many as 38 residents with a specialized focus on memory care.
The future of the Resthaven facility
After struggling financially for years, Resthaven ceased operations at the end of 2022. Attempts to market the county-owned facility to other assisted living operators were not successful due to the economics of the needed repairs and upgrades. As a result, local government authorized beginning the process of seeking alternatives which include selling the property.
