Avon Park Air Force Range Joint Land Use Study
The CFRPC is working to carry out the recommendations of a JLUS in cooperation with the Avon Park Air Force Range and the surrounding jurisdictions of Highlands, Okeechobee, Osceola, and Polk Counties, and the Cities of Avon Park, Frostproof, and Sebring.
Broadband
The CFRPC, in partnership with the Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council and the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council, has received a grant from the State Department of Management Services to develop a broadband toolkit and training manual.
Brownfields
The Heartland Brownfields Revitalization Partnership (HBRP) assists local governments in cleaning up and generating economic development on abandoned or underused commercial and industrial sites.
Community Redevelopment
The Central Florida Regional Planning Council assists communities within our region to implement community redevelopment efforts.
Community Visioning
The CFRPC offers Community Visioning assistance to local governments. The CFRPC provides assistance to communities in developing vision and strategic plans for the future.
Developments or Regional Impact (DRIs)
A DRI is a large-scale development which affects more than one county. The Council’s involvement includes determination of the facilities and services that will be needed to accommodate these projects.
Economic Development District
The Central Florida Regional Planning Council serves as the Economic Development District (EDD) for the Central Florida Region.
Energy
The CFRPC works on many energy projects such as the Energy Baseline Inventory, the Florida Energy Assurance Study, the Florida Energy Resiliency Strategies Study, and the Alternative Fuels Economic Development Strategies.
GIS Mapping
The CFRPC produces maps and conducts geographic analysis to support a wide variety of projects. Most publications produced by the CFRPC include GIS Maps and GIS plays a crucial role in almost all CFRPC programs.
Hazardous Materials Planning Assistance
The District VII Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), staffed by the CFRPC, is charged with facilitating regional hazardous materials emergency response and compliance with hazardous materials reporting laws.
Heartland 2060
Heartland 2060 is a visioning effort that encompasses seven counties in Central Florida including DeSoto, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands, Glades, Okeechobee, and Polk.
Heartland Rural Mobility Plan
The Heartland Rural Mobility Plan (HRMP) was designed to identify and address the mobility challenges within a six-county rural area in south central Florida designated as a Rural Area of Critical Economic Concern (RACEC).
Homeland Security
CFRPC Staff provides assistance to various agencies throughout the state for the conduct of training exercises in order to allow first responders and other emergency management personnel to practice their skills.
Intergovernmental Coordination and Review
Through the IC&R process, the Council reviews applications for federal assistance grants and projects, programs and documents under the National Environmental Policy Act.
Planning Advisory Services
The CFRPC serves 30 local governments including 5 counties and 25 municipalities. The CFRPC provides assistance to those jurisdictions through Planning Advisory Services (PAS).
Statewide Regional Evacuation Study
The Florida Division of Emergency Management, Division of Community Planning and Department of Transportation in coordination with the CFRPC have developed the Statewide Regional Evacuation Study for the Central Florida Region.
Transportation Disadvantaged
The overall mission of Florida’s transportation disadvantaged program is to ensure the availability of safe, efficient, cost-effective, and quality transportation services for the transportation disadvantaged population of a designated service area.
