San Antonio Evaluation & Appraisal Report – San Antonio EAR

What is an Evaluation and Appraisal Report?

Under State of Florida law, a local government must evaluate its Comprehensive Plan every seven years to, at a minimum, reflect recent legislative changes. In addition, the EAR process is also an opportunity to address community concerns and desires within the comprehensive plan.

Objectives of the EAR

  • Review changes to state statutes over the last 7 years and compare Florida statute changes with the Comprehensive Plan
  • Identify areas within the Comprehensive Plan where updates might be needed
  • Notify the State of Florida of the City’s intent to develop EAR potential changes

Purpose of the EAR

The purpose of the EAR Process is to:

Process

  • Review required Florida Statute changes to the San Antonio Comprehensive Plan.
  • Comprehensively evaluate and, as necessary, identify updates to comprehensive plan elements to reflect changes in local conditions.  Items discussed and identified in the EAR process may or may not result in changes to the Comprehensive Plan.
  • Hold a Community Workshop to seek public input on the concepts for the 2050 San Antonio Comprehensive Plan.
  • If there are recommended / required changes to the Comprehensive Plan, those will have their own required public hearings

How can Residents be Involved?

Evaluation and Appraisal Reports focus on the major planning issues within a community.  The public is encouraged to participate in EAR Public Workshops and EAR Discussion meetings to identify the major issues they feel should be addressed in the EAR Report.
