Emergency Management Training in Polk County
Our Emergency Management and Community Projects program led a comprehensive tabletop exercise for the Polk County Landfill.
Our Emergency Management and Community Projects program led a comprehensive tabletop exercise for the Polk County Landfill with assistance from Emergency Response Educators and Consultants, Inc., uniting a diverse group of stakeholders to strategize and coordinate responses to potential landfill fires, with a particular focus on incidents involving lithium-ion batteries and other hazardous materials.
The purpose of the exercise was to enhance Polk County staff's understanding of their roles, responsibilities, plans, and procedures in response to a lithium-ion fire at the landfill and a subsequent chlorine release. This initiative aimed to improve intra-agency coordination and cooperation, identify response and mitigation actions, and strengthen Polk County's overall response capabilities to landfill fires.
